    Healthcare Reform Customized for Business Owners & HR Professionals

    Business owners will learn what health insurance market will be best for employees and their business.  HR professionals learn the latest compliance updates and guidance on employee handbooks.

    The Human Resources Association of Southern Maryland (HRASM), in cooperation with St. Mary’s Chamber of Commerce, will meet on September 18, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Southern MD Higher Education Center, 44219 Airport Road, California, MD 20619.  We will hold a PPACA seminar with two of the most informed and well respected speakers on Healthcare Reform:

    Rodger Bayne, RHU owner of Indemnity Benefit Corporation. Mr. Bayne will focus on the specifics of the markets available to the business owner from a state wide perspective.  Paying particular attention to the exchanges (individual and SHOP), private insurance outside the exchanges, and self-funding.  With a focus on which markets and plans will be best suited for a particular business.

    Jennifer Berman, ESQ who is a member of the Venable’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Group. Ms. Berman is a leader in analyzing health care reform developments and will focus on employee benefit compliance issues and assisting companies in developing and implementing compliance programs related to the latest PPACA regulations.

    The cost is $10.00 for Chambers and HRASM members, which includes breakfast.  Deadline for registering is September 11th.  Attendees can register online at  Once registered, payment is required if a cancellation is made after the deadline date.  This seminar is pending general recertification credits toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute.

    HRASM has over 118 members from the tri-county area who have a special interest in the human resources field. Its mission is to provide networking, educational, advisory and training opportunities to HR professionals in Southern Maryland.
