    Marijuana in the Workplace. "A Hazy Issue for Employers" - Submitted for 1.5 HRCI Recertification Credits and eligible for 1.5 SHRM PDCs

    We are starting off our 2017 programming with the topic of Marijuana in the Workplace. This presentation will provide attendees with issues arising in the workplace due to marijuana decriminalization/legalization; identifying employees with potential drug abuse, intervention and educational resources available to them, as well as; the dangerous trends in edibles and other new forms of drugs. Mike Gimble will also share insights into the negative impact on employee productivity and company profitability; effective drug testing policies including medical marijuana; and referrals to employees for help with their addiction.

    About the Speaker

    Mike Gimbel has been in the field of substance abuse education, prevention, intervention and treatment for over 30 years. He is currently the President of Mike Gimbel Associates, a national substance abuse consulting company.

    Mike is currently working with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) on providing substance abuse education to the nation’s college athletics.

    In his previous role as the Drug Czar for Baltimore County Government and Director of Substance Abuse for the Sheppard Pratt Health System. Mike has won numerous awards including 8 National Association of counties achievement awards, the FBI Community Leadership Award, Commendations from the National Commission Against Drunk Driving and Congressional Achievement award. Recently, Mike received the Daily Records’ Health Care Hero Outreach Award for 2011 and was presented an Honorary Life Membership ward with the National PTA.

    Mike has served on the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) national board of directors and was an advisor to the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health’s Fellowship program on drug abuse.

    Mike currently hosts a substance abuse education television show called Straight Talk, which is seen every Sunday in the Baltimore area. Mike is frequently called upon by local, state and national media as one of the nation’s most knowledgeable experts on substance abuse.

    In his spare time, Mike has completed 18 marathons including the Boston Marathon 8 times.
