Employement Law - The Changing Landscape of Anti-Discrimination Laws and Workplace Policies - APPROVED -1.5 HRCI credits & eligible for 1.5 SHRM PDCs

    Breakfast Meeting!!

This presentation will discuss some of the more discrete and growing areas of anti-discrimination law at the state and federal level.  For instance, ban the box laws have become very popular at the state level to prevent discrimination based on race.  This topic would include Maryland specific laws as well as the EEOC’s guidance, and provide recommendations for compliance.  This presentation will also explore the trend in laws prohibiting discrimination against transgender individuals, including bathroom use, and tips for how employers can ensure compliance.  This presentation will also explore requirements for accommodating pregnant and recently pregnant women in the workplace.  Finally, the NLRB’s pursuit of numerous workplace policies such as social media and confidentiality policies is an ongoing obstacle for employers, as the NLRB typically seeks out employer actions that may intrude on employees’ protected concerted activity.  This presentation will tell you how you can best comply with these requirements.

Jordon B. Schwartz  advises employers on a wide range of complex employment-related issues. He defends employers against claims of discrimination and harassment, misappropriation of trade secrets, and wage and hour violations. He also counsels employers on all aspects of the employer-employee relationship.
