    This session discusses Employment Standards Services for different industries. The presenter will discuss laws and rules in Maryland pertaining to minimum wage, overtime, leave and break laws as well as the employment of minors.  It is necessary for HR practitioners across all industries to understand and know the laws to make sure their organization is in compliance with state employment laws.  Practicing proper protocol when it comes to employment related laws in different workplaces can enhance employee relations and increase retention.


    The HR practitioner will learn the minimum wage (both on the state and local levels); wage and hour information in different industries in Maryland; employment of minors law; and Maryland Leave Laws. 



    Tralene Putman has over fifteen years of Labor Law experience where she oversees the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, Division of Labor and Industry, Employment Standards Service.  Tralene's experience includes enforcement in the area of wage and hour, wage payment and collection, employment of minors, flexible leave, equal pay for equal work and other employment related laws.
