URGENT!! SB 555 Peace Order Workplace Violence Bill Needs Your Support!
18 years ago in 2001, MD SHRM first supported Workplace Violence Prevention Legislation. It did not pass. In 2006, we tried again. It did not pass. This year, we are closer than ever in providing an employer with the ability to seek a peace order to prevent an individual who is threatening harm to one of our employees in the workplace. Employers do not have that ability today.
Last night, Maryland House Judiciary gave the Peace Order Workplace Violence Bill (HB640) a favorable vote! http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/
The latest word is our Senate Bill 555 is facing some push back in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. PLEASE use this link to urge your Senator and Delegate(s) to reach out to members of that committee, if they are not on it and please give this bill a favorable report!
The Senate JPC will probably vote today. Thanks again for your help!
